About Sarita

My professional training reflects over 15 years of clinical experience and includes working in community counseling centers, mental health agencies, hospitals and public schools. I became licensed as Marriage and Family Therapist in 2007 and have been working as a Psychotherapist since 2002. After receiving my Master's degree from the Transpersonal Counseling Psychology Program at John F. Kennedy University's School of Holistic Studies and becoming licensed, I opened my practice in the Cow Hollow neighborhood of San Francisco.
My therapeutic orientation is grounded in an appreciation of the integral relationship between the mind, body, spirit and emotions. I am passionate about my work, which has been influenced by Buddhist philosophy, mindfulness meditation and transpersonal philosophies. Through the use of visualization, metaphor and the exploration of dream imagery, I help people to shed light on unconscious material, frame their experiences in new ways, and arrive at all together new meanings.
My therapeutic approach is empathic, collaborative and relational. I respect that each of us is unique and brings different needs to the therapeutic relationship. As such, I work to tailor my style to accommodate the specific needs of each individual. I believe that each of us has a fundamental instinct towards healing and as such is the expert in his or her own healing process. While I generally provide depth therapy, I am also available to work on a shorter-term, solution-focused basis when appropriate. I enjoy working with people of all backgrounds, ethnicities, sexual and gender orientations. I am committed to sensitively and non-judgmentally guiding others along their paths of self-exploration, transformation and healing.
