About Sarita

My clinical training reflects over twenty years experience and includes working in community counseling centers, mental health agencies, hospitals and public schools in Oakland and San Francisco, CA. I have been working as a psychotherapist since 2002 and I became licensed as a Marriage and Family Therapist in 2007. After receiving my MA from the Transpersonal Counseling Psychology Program at John F. Kennedy University's School of Holistic Studies and becoming licensed as a Marriage & Family Therapist, I opened my psychotherapy practice in the Cow Hollow neighborhood of San Francisco.
My therapeutic orientation is informed by an appreciation of the integral relationship between the mind, body, spirit and emotions. I am passionate about my work, which has been influenced by Buddhist philosophy, mindfulness meditation and transpersonal philosophies. Using tools such as visualization and the exploration of metaphor, personal narrative, and dream imagery, I help people shine a light on their unconsciously held beliefs and identify those that no longer serve. I support my clients to challenge their assumptions, frame their experiences in new ways, and ultimately arrive at all together new meanings.
My therapeutic approach is empathic, collaborative and relational and I think that each of us has a fundamental instinct towards wholeness. I also believe that each of us is already in possession of the answers to our most pressing questions. As such, by attuning to the inner voice that guides you, you become the expert as to what would be most fundamental to your healing.
While I specialize in providing depth therapy, I am also available to work on a shorter-term, solution-focused basis when appropriate. I find curiosity, self-compassion and a sense of humor are helpful allies as the work unfolds. I enjoy working with people of all backgrounds, ethnicities, sexual and gender identifications. I am committed to sensitively and non-judgmentally guiding others on their paths of self-exploration, transformation and healing.
