FAQs

  • Please contact me for my current fee. My rates are competitive and in-line with other therapists in the Bay Area. I welcome hearing from you to schedule an initial telephone consultation to answer any questions you may have. I provide reduced rates under certain circumstances. If financial limitations are an obstacle to our working together, I will do my best to provide you with an appropriate referral. I accept payment by cash, check, Zelle, PayPal or Venmo. Payment is due at the time of service unless previous arrangements have been made.

  • I’m generally accepted as an "out-of network" provider for most PPO insurance plans. I can provide you with quarterly insurance statements to submit to your carrier for reimbursement. Please call your insurance carrier directly to learn about their policies for working with out-of-network providers.

  • Services may be covered in full or in part by your health insurance plan. Please check your coverage carefully before making an appointment by calling their toll-free number and asking:

    • Do I have mental health insurance benefits?

    • Do I have a deductible for mental health and if so, has it been met?

    • Does my plan have a provision for me to work with an out-of-network provider?

    • If so, how much will I be reimbursed for my sessions?

  • I appreciate receiving as much notice as possible for cancellations and rescheduling. I ask for a minimum of twenty-four hours advance notice when you know you will miss or need to reschedule. I charge my full fee if you provide less than twenty-four hours advance notice. Insurance generally does not reimburse for missed sessions, so clients using their insurance will be required to pay my full fee for sessions missed or canceled without sufficient notice.

  • You may contact me to schedule an initial telephone consultation via my confidential office voicemail or contact form. During our phone consultation, you can decide if you’d like to make an appointment for an online or face-face therapy session. You should have an idea of whether you and I are a good fit to work together after the first few sessions.

  • I generally conduct therapy sessions for a 50-minute hour. Occasionally, when more intensive work is desired, I may have availability to offer 75-minute sessions.

  • The answer to this question varies based on your goals for therapy and attributes unique to each client. While I specialize in providing depth therapy that may span several years, I’m also available to work on a short-term, solution-focused basis that may only require a few months.

  • I generally suggest meeting a minimum of once-a-week, as psyche likes constancy. I find meeting with this minimum frequency tends to be the most effective. Under certain circumstances, I may suggest meeting more than once a week, depending on need and availability.

  • I am especially skilled at identifying the underlying beliefs that can prohibit people from feeling inner peace and fulfillment in life, including helping people who may be:

    • Feeling symptoms of depression

    • Struggling with anxiety or fears

    • Navigating separation and individuation

    • Overwhelmed by major life transitions

    • Dealing with trauma, abuse or neglect

    • Recovering from narcissistic abuse

    • Experiencing symptoms of Adult AD/HD

    • Grieving the loss of a loved one, job or relationship

    • Grappling with being alone, feeling isolated and/or lonely

    • Recovering from addictive behaviors or codependency issues

    • Wanting to set healthy boundaries with others or limits at work

    • Noticing painful patterns relating to themselves and others

    • Seeking to accept and appreciate themselves on a deeper level
